About David Snellings

I was born, raised and received my early education in the Richmond, Virginia area.  Pursuit of my chemical engineering degree from Virginia Polytechnic Institute was interrupted by the Vietnam War.  For five years I served my country during that conflict,  becoming a commissioned officer in the US Army Artillery.  After my military service I returned to college and earned a BS from Illinois State University and later received a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Richmond, graduating with honors and was inducted into the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honorary Society.   After recently retiring from a 45 year career as a computer software engineer, I started a second career in fine art,  using predominantly acrylics and oils.  My works have appeared across the nation in many juried competitions,  with several earning awards of merit in those competitions.  Artistically, I am influenced by the work of the Hudson River School, Andrew Wyeth, Rod Lawrence, Robert Bateman and John Banovich.
